CO2 Recovery from biogas upgrading
Solveno Technologies provides advanced CO2 recovery and carbon capture solutions for biogas upgrading. Our technology captures emissions directly after the biogas upgrading process, eliminating methane emissions, reducing CO2 emissions and creating new revenue streams.
CO2 Recovery
CO2 recovery in biogas upgrading plants involves capturing carbon dioxide released during the upgrading process. The CO2 emissions are collected and guided to the CO2 recovery unit. The gas is purified, compressed and liquefied, after which it is available for reuse in various industries. It can be used for industry, green house or dry ice applications. This creates new revenue streams, significantly reduces the CI score of the upgraded biogas and eliminates any methane slip.
Products
Solveno Technologies offers a full range of standardized CO₂ recovery units, with capacities from 350 to 4,500 kg of CO₂ per hour, designed to meet the specific carbon capture needs of biogas upgrading production plants. All units share the same core components but differ in recovery capacity, following a modular design that allows easy scaling to match various production requirements.

Patented Carbon Capture Technology
Our patented carbon capture technology is at the heart of our approach to efficient CO₂ removal and liquefaction. After the biogas is upgraded, the captured CO₂ can be condensed into liquid form, ready for reuse in various industries. This process is energy-efficient and highly customizable, allowing us to design solutions tailored to different biogas compositions and project scales.
Our technology offers several key advantages:
Zero Methane Slip: Our patented CO₂ liquefaction technology ensures zero methane slip, this is often a requirement for biogas installations to meet strict environmental standards and maximize sustainability.
Food-grade CO₂: Our process produces high-purity liquid CO₂ suitable for applications in food processing, greenhouses, and other industries. These high quality standards can be guaranteed by adding an analysis unit.
Energy Efficiency: By optimizing the liquefaction process, we ensure minimal energy consumption, reducing operating costs for our customer
Curious about the possibilities for your business?
CO2 recovery is essential for several reasons:
Reducing greenhouse gas emissions: By capturing and utilizing both methane and carbon dioxide, we prevent their release into the atmosphere, helping to meet zero-emission targets.
Maximizing profitability: Biogas upgrading systems can generate multiple revenue streams from biomethane and carbon dioxide, reducing operational costs and improving profitability.
Renewable Energy Source: Upgraded biogas can replace fossil fuels, providing a clean, renewable source of energy for heating, electricity, and vehicle fuel.
Biogas Membrane Separation Technology
The biogas membrane separation system allows for the efficient raw biogas separation of CH₄ from CO₂. This technology is designed to maximize methane yield and minimize methane slip while maintaining operational simplicity and reliability.
Key benefits of membrane technology:
- High Efficiency Methane Separation: The membrane system ensures that biogas is upgraded to high-purity biomethane with minimal methane losses.
- Flexible Design: The membrane configuration can be customized to match the biogas composition and required output, ensuring optimal performance for each application.
- Lower Operating Costs: Membrane separation is a cost-effective solution for biogas upgrading, with low maintenance requirements and no need for chemicals or excessive energy use.
After the biogas membrane separation process, where methane is efficiently separated from CO₂, our CO₂ recovery solutions can be seamlessly integrated to capture and purify the separated carbon dioxide. Instead of releasing this CO₂ into the atmosphere, our technology condenses and liquefies it, creating a high-purity, reusable product. This recovered CO₂ can be utilized across various industries, including food and beverage production, greenhouse enrichment, and industrial applications, turning what was once a by-product into a valuable resource. Our energy-efficient and customizable CO₂ recovery systems ensure maximum sustainability and profitability, aligning with your operational and environmental goals.

Difference between CO₂ recovery from dry ice vs biogas upgrading
There is a key difference between CO₂ derived from biogas upgrading and CO₂ derived from dry ice production. CO₂ from dry ice production is already highly pure and requires no additional cleaning steps. In contrast, CO₂ from biogas upgrading contains more impurities, such as trace gases and pollutants, that must be removed in order to meet food-grade CO₂ standards.
