CO2 Calculator for Biogas Recovery

What is included in this indication?

Operating cost per tonne includes modelled electricity, annual maintenance, labour and 10% overhead on these costs. Maintenance includes major overhauls and replacements.

The investment estimate covers a full turnkey solution, including the process package, CO2 analyzer, CO2 bulk storage tanks and truck loading station. Investment is used to calculate payback and is not included in the displayed OPEX per tonne.

Annual operating profit equals CO2 sales revenue minus modelled OPEX, before financing, tax and depreciation. Simple payback divides the initial investment by this annual profit. If profit is zero or negative, no finite payback is shown. Equipment lifetime determines cumulative energy savings and whether payback falls within the selected period; it does not change annual profit or simple payback. Energy savings are already reflected in operating costs and are not added again to profit.

Capacity inputs are converted to equivalent CO2 kg/hour. Biogas is assumed to contain 60% biomethane and 40% CO2 by volume; biomethane inputs use the same ratio to estimate available CO2. The model assumes no recovery losses, fixed annual operating conditions and sale of all recovered CO2 at the selected price.

Actual economics depend on uptime, gas composition, achievable product quality, market demand and site conditions. Additional utilities, feed-gas preparation, transport and other costs beyond the stated scope are not separately quantified. Prices and annual costs remain constant; financing, taxes, inflation, discounting, working capital, site-specific costs outside the turnkey scope and residual value are excluded. Ranges reflect the selected system’s investment and maintenance estimates.
